J-STD-001 solder training kit

The IPC J-STD-001 certification training requires the use of several consumable materials including fluxes and solders, a PCB cleaning agent, wipes as well as the J-STD-001 soldering training kit. Whether it is certification training done at the CIT or CIS level, J-STD-001 certification training requires these consumables as well as other pieces of equipment for hand soldering including but certainly not limited to a soldering iron, inspection equipment, soldering tips, wire cutters, orangewood sticks, and needle nose pliers. In addition to the above, each student should have to their avail the J-STD-001 “Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies”

In addition, some kits are shipped on sectioned off component boxes which can be re-used or re-purposed elsewhere.

This full “kit” of materials is required for the J-STD-001 certification training at the CIT level and only the applicable hand soldering/assembly modules will drive what is required as part of a kit for the CIS J-STD-001 certification training. For each of the modules in the J-STD-001 the following parts of the J-STD-001 solder training kit will be required for the wires and terminals section:

The inspection module for the IPC J-STD-001 certification will generally be used to practice the inspection using the assembly skills and specification in J-STD-001. The materials inside the J-STD-001 solder training kit are one-time use per student. Some quality systems within employers may require that the PCB be stored on file after the student has been accredited for a period of a few years.

The IPC J-STD-001 solder training kit can be found through online purchases from a variety of suppliers. Training centers making their own kits usually will support users being trained to the IPC J-STD-001 certification guidelines.
